Email Marketing: 4 Simple Steps to Get Seen by Potential Clients

Potential clients of your services first need to know they exist. Email marketing is a simple and inexpensive way to showcase your services and ultimately grow your business. Check out these four simple steps below to get started.

  1. Create Content. Blog on topics that solve problems for your target audience and align it with the services you provide. For instance, an accountant’s blog offers guidance on how to lessen individual and corporate taxes and how their services can make that process easier. Having trouble coming up with topics? Look at the challenges your clients are facing, what’s happening in your industry that could impact your clients, and what your competitors are doing. You can also repurpose or update old content.
     

  2. Keep It Simple. This blog’s format is a perfect example of content that’s easy for an author to create and even easier for a reader to digest. Types of blog formats include listicles (Top 5 Tips to Prepare for Tax Season), answering frequently asked questions, or using infographics to convey data-heavy content.
     

  3. Be Consistent. To keep you on track, create a list of topics that are easy to blog about, then blog on a topic every two months. This frequency, coupled with short blog content, is a sustainable strategy that will keep you on the radar of not just potential clients, but existing ones who may need to re-engage your services. Once you get more comfortable with blogging, increase your frequency.
     

  4. Build a Mailing List. Use a mass email provider like Mailchimp or Constant Contact to distribute content and build your mailing list. Grow your list by adding a subscribe button to your website, your email signature, and in the blog.
